About Us

For over 40 years, Christiania Sports Club (CSC) has represented the people of Christiania in the  world of football. CSC has existed since 1982 and has around 200 members. The football club currently has three senior teams, two old boys team and a veteran 7-man team. We currently play in Serie 1 in the national leauges and train at our home-ground located at kløvermarken, Copenhagen.

We represent freedom, unity and community. All while honoring the story of the rebellious autonomous people who broke the rules to create their own place with their own set of values. A place we all know and cherish as Christiania.

Freetown Christiania

1971

Founding
of Freetown Christiania: Christiania was established on September 26, 1971, by
a group of residents, artists, and activists who sought an alternative,
autonomous lifestyle in the abandoned Bådsmandsstræde military barracks in
Christianshavn, Copenhagen. These early settlers introduced a declaration of
independence from Danish law, aiming to build a community grounded in values
like creativity, freedom, and equality.

1972

Initial

residents, but public support and media attention lead to a compromise.
Christiania is granted provisional status as a “social experiment,” which
allows it to operate independently within certain boundaries.

Community Growth: As the settlement stabilizes, it attracts a diverse mix of
people, including families, artists, musicians, and those seeking a
